African Americans and the Civil War

Get an insider's view of the continuous learning opportunities available with Asbury living as you learn about African-Americans' role in the Civil War. The resident-run Keese School of Continuing Education presents two popular lecturers, historians who served as extras in the iconic film Glory. Afterward, enjoy a delicious brain-boosting lunch on us.

An Education in Serving Others

On October 20, resident Rev. Hal Garman, will stand on stage in front of thousands and accept an award for the Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative, a community outreach program building on Hal's early work during the Civil Rights Movement.
