Staying active is a key to living well. Study after study shows that regular exercise not only fends off disease and disability, but makes your mind sharper, too. At Asbury Methodist Village, you’ll find an active senior lifestyle that promotes your physical wellness, regardless of your interests or current level of activity. You don’t have to be an athlete to stay fit.
The Rosborough Cultural Arts and Wellness Center is the hub of the campus wellness initiative called HealthAbility™. The Rosborough Center houses an indoor lap pool, a well-equipped fitness center and an indoor walking track. You can try out group fitness classes, including Pilates, Stretch and Tone, water walking, balance and mobility, Light and Easy Aerobics or circuit weight training. It’s all included in your monthly fee.
If you prefer a more social fitness experience, take a spin around the dance floor at a Tea Dance or with Zumba. Schedule a match at the regulation tennis court. Or, take part in one of the more than 100 resident-driven clubs on campus. Join the Bocce Club to test your skills against some real pros, or exercise your green thumb with the Garden Club. Life is always better with good times mixed in.
Need a nudge? At Asbury Methodist Village, you have free access to a fitness specialist who will customize a program to help you achieve your fitness goals. Want to improve your balance or your strength? Just say the word. You’ll get a plan and plenty of encouragement.
Through regular assessments, you can track your progress and get hints about how to improve even more. More than half of those in residential living and one-third of assisted living residents participate in HealthAbility fitness programs, and the results are amazing.
Participants have noted an average 14 percent increase in upper body strength, 12 percent improvement in balance, and 11 percent increase in endurance. In a recent resident satisfaction survey, the “quality of the fitness/wellness center” earned some of the highest ratings.
Laughter is good for the soul, too. When you’re ready to have some fun, you don’t have to look far for kindred spirits at Asbury Methodist Village. You can find dining groups, travel opportunities both near and far and groups for just about any interest under the sun. And if you have an interest you’d like to share, you’re more than welcome to organize your own group or program.
You can’t help but feel the energy on campus and the pride residents feel knowing they helped create this vibrant community. At Asbury Methodist Village, you have the power to create the life you want. What will you bring to the table?
