In 2011, Asbury Methodist Village created a unique partnership with the Strathmore Society, a cultural arts center located in Montgomery County, Md. Residents recieve special rates to all Strathmore programs - which range from art shows to musical and dance performances and lectures. Discover something new at the Keese School for Continuing Education. This excellent resource is entirely administered and run by residents. With more than 100 lectures, on- and off-site events, and guest speakers scheduled each “semester,” it’s an excellent opportunity to continue to grow and learn at any stage of life.
In 2012, Asbury Methodist Village partnered with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Johns Hopkins University and began holding two of its most popular classes Rosborough Theatre. Asbury residents also enjoy discounted rates to the many Osher classes held on the Johns Hopkins campus in Rockville, Md.
Don’t just watch TV; make it come alive at AVTV, Asbury’s own award-winning, closed-circuit television station. This on-campus production studio creates original programming that’s televised to the more than 1,500 Asbury Methodist Village residents. The programming lineup includes talk shows about community happenings, fitness and more. If you’ve ever been curious about the audiovisual arts, this is your chance to learn more as a hands-on volunteer.
Featuring 12 computer stations provided by residents Dorothy and Wayne Smithey, the SmitheyTechnology Center offers training and access for users of all skill levels.
In 2013, Asbury residents established the Apple Corps, monthly educational sessions related to Apple products such as iPads and iPhones.
