The Beloved Community Marches on Washington

One of the single most significant events in American civil rights history is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s remarkable "I Have a Dream" speech and the March on Washington. This year marked the 50th anniversary of that memorable day. Asbury residents Hal and Jan Garman, who founded the Beloved Community Initiative, joined their neighbors in leading a group of Gaithersburg students to commemorate the anniversary.

Learn more here and read about the Garmans' firsthand account of their experience that day in The Asbury Perspective.
